Have you ever wondered why some GIS teams succeed more often and stand out from the rest?

I don’t have all the answers to making your team stand out, but I would like to share with you some of my experiences, observations and the lessons that I have learnt from my executives, as a senior manager of teams and the president of a not-for-profit organisation.


Speaker Information:

Gary is the Senior Geospatial Intelligence Officer for the Department of Human Services. He is responsible for providing advice and direction on issues of interest to the Government of South Australia, leading the co-ordination, development, and implementation of department wide geospatial systems and data-driven decision making outcomes.

He has held several executive position’s including Chair of Data for Change - Systemic Reform Group for SA Government, President of the Surveying and Spatial Sciences Institute (SSSI), Director of Locate Conferences Australia and a foundation Board member of The Centre for Spatial Law and Policy.

He was recognised nationally for his ‘Services to the Spatial Community’ and internationally by ESRI Inc ‘Special Achievement in GIS’ for his innovation within the human services sector. Recently he was recognised for his leadership and commitment to the geospatial industry with the ‘Lifetime Achievement in GIS’ and an inductee into the Australia GIS Hall of Fame. He is a Fellow SSSI and Fellow of the Governors Leadership Foundation SA.
